Foto Forum and the Parkhotel Mondschein are pleased to invite you to a public conference with American artist and photographer Ann Mandelbaum (New York) on Thursday, 8 June 2023 at 7 p.m. at the Luna Bar, Parkhotel Mondschein in Bolzano. She will provide insight into her creative work, addressing abstraction and sensoriality in the organic world through experiments both in the darkroom and through digital manipulation.

“I have had an immersive relationship with the camera for 40 years. The macro lens has served as an intimate window, fostering close inspection and dissection, rearranging reality in images that demand a second look. Teaching has been a perfect complement to this obsessive artistic practice. Beginning in 1977 at Pratt Institute, NYC, I met with Fine Arts majors until retirement in 2021. During 4 decades I shot and taught, making and teaching about making. Organically many students during those same 4 decades also forged a bond with the camera, inventing, reinventing and making something out of nothing. More importantly they developed a consistent practice that could endure.” Ann Mandelbaum
