Get out of the hype!

Michil Costa, feisty hotelier, cultural activist, environmentalist and visionary pleads for a new sense of meaning in tourism - against industrialisation and for a culture of hospitality based on values: Common good, ecological sustainability and humanity.

In the face of a tourism that has grown into a huge, threatening juggernaut, we need to make a clear, unambiguous choice of direction. Especially in the Alps, the effects of the tourist monoculture are abundantly clear: congested roads, lifts and slopes on all peaks, an arms race of hotel facilities. But is this what guests are looking for?

Born in 1961, Michil Costa runs the Hotel La Perla (Member of The Leading Hotels of the World) and the Berghotel Ladinia in Corvara as well as the Posta Marcucci near Siena together with his family according to the principles of the common good economy. He is president of the "Maratona dles Dolomites". In 2007 he founded the Costa Family Foundation, which supports development projects in Africa, Asia and South America.
