The French duo Joy Ever - previously known as Lyrs - were guests at Parkhotel Mondschein as Artists in Residence. Ivan and Hugo met through mutual friends in Lyon - the beginning of a creative collaboration that blends electronic music with acoustic textures and layered sound collages. Their style is shaped by dreamy, often experimental soundscapes, which they have previously expanded with visual elements: in collaboration with graphic artists, they created audiovisual performances where sound and image merge.
At Parkhotel Mondschein, the duo deliberately placed the focus on music. Instead of visual staging, listening itself - and the direct engagement with the surroundings - took center stage. During their stay, they collected local sound fragments and wove them into their compositions. In this way, noises, voices, and atmospheres from the site became an integral part of their work.
This approach is also reflected in their current practice: for their first album, set to be released later this year, the two artists take time to explore influences, refine sounds, and capture moments. The incorporated field recordings function like acoustic keepsakes - a souvenir of places and encounters.
At their concert in the park of the Luna Bar, the artists offered insight into this creative process. Through their compositions, they invited the audience on a calm, multi-layered sonic journey.
